Neglect and basic rights violation and discrimination and prejudice
During my stay at st catharines hospital I was wrongfully and without any corroborated evidence accused of using cocaine in my room. I voluntarily requested a toxicology screening the results of which were withheld from me. Due to these allegations my specialist prescribed pain medication was withheld for a week and a half until my specialist returned. During this time I was not permitted to see the assigned general physician. I was given a one quarter dose of my medication and was watched 24 hours by a female security guard and was not allowed to close my door or the bathroom door and unable to urinate except under watch from a female guard. I was also told that if I had visitors or left the unit for any reason my medication would be withheld. A nurse also threatened to order a psychiatric form if I left due to her suspicion of drug use. During thise time I experienced severe withdrawal, pain, and mental anguish. I was also told that I deserved rhis treatment. The chatge nurse also entered into my official chart that I was observed snorting cocaibe which was untrue and can he corroborated by my toxicology test. Due to this restriction I was unable to seek housing for my discharge as I am homeless and disabled and was not allow3d help with accessing appropriate social services to assist. I also requested psychiatric assessment which I was refused. Also I was not allowed physical therapy resulting in severe harm to my recovery.
