I was passing by the hospital and I required the use of the bathroom so I could urinate. I have been holding it in for several blocks.let me point out that i am a senior and I was out walking using my walker to get around,As you get older the ability to “hold it in” is almost if not impossible thing to do.I told the lady that does the screening how urgent it was to use the bathroom but I was informed that I am not allowed to do this.I am sure however that if first I did not look homeless(which I am not) and maybe if she new me personally like a friend,neighbor or family member or perhaps a doctor then they would be granted access to the use of the bathroom. at this point ,i dont think i need to tell health professionals the dangers of “holding it in” can lead to so in case your forgot here are some of the dangers. Holding your urine for too long can weaken the bladder muscles over time. This can lead to problems such as incontinence and not being able to fully empty your bladder. Holding your urine for extremely long periods of time can also cause urinary tract infections due to bacteria build-up.
Although holding in poop on occasion is not harmful, people who have a habit of doing this may develop constipation or more severe complications. People who hold in their poop too often may start to lose the urge to poop, which may result in fecal incontinence. Other people may experience constipation.
now that we have been reeducated about this and now also telling you that because of my emergency i ended up urinating in my pants as I exited the building,I was completely embarrassed from this and felt very uncomfortable going back home on the bus with wet pants. Is this how you would treat your friends,family etc….why am I treated like I have to gain consent to go pee,we are not in grade school.I am getting sick of the control that the corporations and the government have over everything. Perhaps this letter has made you all laugh at my concern but it was not at all funny for me,how can you let this happen This person at the desk made a decision to allow me to piss myself,she could have allowed me access but then she probably fears being fired for this .
