My daughter has been a patient of the Acute Inpatient Psychiatric Unit (AIPU) for many of the last 12 months. She has escaped 10 times in the last 12 months while being on a form and a patient of this unit and the hospital has had to contact the police to locate her every time. The hospital continues to release her over and over again without proper services in place to ensure her safety and aid her in being successful in the community. This revolving door policy is not the correct way to successfully help a mentally ill person.
