Even as I write this, I am still in pain. On June 3rd, around 6:00 AM, I first felt pain in my abdomen, then had diarrhea and bloody stool. The pain and symptoms did not improve for several hours, so I left home around 5:30 PM and arrived at North York General Hospital. At around 6:15 PM, I did a nurse assessment and waited. At the time of the nurse assessment, I told the nurse that I had been diagnosed with abdominal vascular dissection on April 13th, had a CT scan, and had an interview with a doctor at Toronto General Hospital on May 28th. During the interview on May 28th, the doctor recommended that I go to the nearest emergency room immediately if I felt pain or had any unusual symptoms in my abdomen, and I also mentioned this during the nurse assessment. At that time, I was still experiencing severe pain in my abdomen, and I also told the nurse that it was a pain of 9-10 intensity. After that, I waited for 3 hours without any treatment until 9:15, and I was anxious about the continued pain, so I asked the nurse when my turn would be, but all I got back was a short, rude reply telling me to just wait. I waited another 45 minutes, and when it was almost 10 o’clock, I couldn’t bear it anymore and just went home to take the last painkiller I had been prescribed. I still don’t know if this pain was caused by vascular dissection or another organ problem. If it was a sign of vascular dissection, I heard it was a very dangerous situation, but when I quickly went to the emergency room, there was nothing but bystanders and the rude attitude of the nurses for 4 hours. If this pain was a situation that required immediate treatment and it got worse without receiving proper treatment during that time, I am very skeptical about the meaning of the emergency room.
